Sinking In A Sea Of Sin
Fr Frank Pavone has said on several occasions that one cannot practice vice virtuously. It's an impossibility, like a fish riding a bicycle, or a Democrat sponsoring a tax cut bill.
Thus it is for Catholics who are pro-abortion, espousing an ideology in direct contradiction to the moral law. They attempt to counterbalance their belief by announcing to anyone who will listen that they stand for issues of "peace and justice", are against the death penalty (not that there's anything wrong with that) or defend policies that lift up the poor and marginalized (worthy causes, too). But they're only fooling themselves. They're trying to frost Crap Cake with vanilla icing, but when all is said and done, the center is still a bunch of crap.
Whether the issue is abortion, contraception, so-called gay marriage, or women's ordinations - it doesn't matter. Once a Catholic starts swimming in the sea of sin, supporting any immoral position, there is imminent and consequently, eternal danger. As the person ventures farther into the currents of rationalization, bobbing along in the sea of sin becomes more comfortable. Then it becomes easier to compromise on other issues of faith. Before long, the accumulation of vices and imcorrect thinking weighs them down, and without realizing it, they sink like a millstone.
Today, Fr Philip at Domine, da mihi hanc aquam, describes this very thing has having occurred, titled The Folly Of The Pro-Abortion Catholic. Here's a portion of his piece:
Case in point: Eric McFadden, the former head of "Catholics for Clinton," "Catholics for Kerry," director of the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives for Ohio's Democrat governor, former field director for Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good, past president of Catholics for Faithful Citizenship, most recently Hillary Clinton's State Faith & Values Outreach Director for Ohio, and a Knight of Columbus who supported Obama, was arrested yesterday for running a prostitution ring that included minors.
Once your conscience tells you that it is OK to kill your child, running a prostitution ring that includes children is easy-cheesy. The idea is that "on-balance" McFadden was attempting to reduce the number of child hookers by providing them a fair wage. I wonder if he let them unionize?
Blub, blub, blub.....
