I can't help but think that if Pope Benedict had decreed four years ago that the Church actually did have the authority to ordain women; and three years ago had changed the Church's teaching against artificial contraception; and two years ago had relaxed the discipline of celibacy for priests; and last year declared that homosexual acts were no longer disordered, that all the fake Catholycs - who want and desire such impossible things - would be ardently and passionately defending the Holy Father against the media-driven smear campaign this year.
Actually...if all that were true, there'd be no need for any smear campaign.
