Pfleger Pfuror
Several days after receiving an award from Cardinal George, the Pfamous Pfather Pfleger gave a sermon on Divine Mercy Sunday wherein he openly called for the priestly ordination of women.
Note how many in the congregation responds. Sad.
I hope Cardinal George comes down swiftly on Pfleger. Sure, the man is a bombast and a publicity hound. But he is also a dangerous crank, pflaunting the pfaith he once promised to protect and defend. He also represents the bishop - in this case, ultimately, Cardinal George- so if the cardinal remains silent, then any credibility he has as leader of the Chicago Archdiocese and head of the USCCB (for all that's worth) vanishes. To me, it appears that Pfleger wants the confrontation in order to pfoment pfurther division in the Church. I say - don't give him that satisfaction. Cardinal George should have a private meeting with the man and if he doesn't recapitulate, pfire him. Then issue a simple statement that Pfleger has been removed from ministry with a short explanation, and leave it at that. Battling this out in the open is exactly what Pfleger wants. Don't give it to him.
This isn't a matter of difference of opinion, or political ideology. This is a matter of a priest preaching heresy. If he doesn't recant, remove him. He'll end up on the Call-to-Action speaking circuit and the MSM short-list for Catholic talking-heads, but that's better than using the Church pulpit to spread dissent and heresy. Cardinal George owes his pflock at least that much.
