Up In The Air

This won't be good for the anthropogenic global warming nuts.  Some scientists are predicting that the sudden shutdown of the airline industry in Europe due to the Iceland volcano may lead to a temperature increase.  "But LarryD, LarryD!  For years, the environazis have been saying that aircraft emissions will contribute to rising temperatures!  So shouldn't a decrease in traffic lead to a temperature decrease?"

Hey, all I can say is, these are eco-fruits we're talking about here.  They've never made sense before - why start now?

From the DailyMail.co:  Grounding of Planes Across Europe 'Could Lead to Rise in Temperatures'

Temperatures in Europe could rise as a result of planes being grounded across the continent, according to research.

A study conducted after commercial flights were grounded for three days following the September 11 terror attacks found the average daily temperature range in the U.S. rose markedly - exceeding the three-day periods before and after by 1.8c.

Scientists claimed this showed that clouds formed by the water vapour in the exhaust from jet planes have a small but significant effect on daily temperatures.

The unprecedented study suggests the UK and Europe will experience a similar pattern.

Planes have now been grounded for 48 hours and there is no suggestion when they will return to the skies, meaning Britons could enjoy hotter than normal temperatures for days.

Watch out for environmental wackos' exploding heads - they can't handle such paradoxes.

So if grounded planes lead to higher temperatures, then more air traffic has to be generated, and quickly. Where are those individual jet packs??

See, now this is green technology I can support.  Strap on a couple Sidewinders, and I'm there!
